Meet Your Massage Therapists

MEGAN

For years before becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist, Megan was fascinated by the immense relief massage therapy had provided her. She felt inspired to become a massage therapist herself in order to help others overcome mental and physical obstacles, as well as to fulfill her passion for preventative care. Megan graduated from Madison College's Therapeutic Massage program in 2020, and soon after, felt called to the “cooperative and empathetic" qualities that Bergamot’s team had to offer. Her massage style is primarily Swedish, layered with therapeutic techniques to relieve, reduce, and prevent tension.

In her free time, Megan enjoys playing with her Labrador Retrievers, weightlifting, and obstacle course racing.

Matt

Matthew is a welcome addition to the Bergamont team with nearly a decade of experience as a licensed massage therapist. He was trained locally by some of the wonderful therapists right here in Madison, WI at Globe University. Matthew also has a background in social justice and received his bachelors degree in Gender and Women’s Studies with an LGBT Studies minor from University of Wisconsin Madison.

Matthew specializes in firmer pressure and deep tissue massage. He would describe his style as targeted therapeutic work. He has spent the majority of his career working with individuals with conditions that cause chronic pain.

In his free time Matthew enjoys reading, playing video, games, and doing cosplay. He is a self proclaimed nerd and enjoys anything and everything fantasy related.

Jessica

Born and raised in southeastern WI, Jessica comes to Bergamot as a recent graduate from the Wisconsin School of Massage Therapy in Germantown. Her massage style can be described as mainly Swedish with medium pressure, but can add therapeutic techniques to areas that need more attention. She is excited to grow as a massage therapist and further her education.

KARTER

Karter joins Bergamot with eight and a half years of massage experience gained in their Wyoming hometown. Karter studied at, and later taught in, the Sheridan College massage therapy program. Their previously completed a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The University of Iowa. They are accustomed to working deeper and utilizing neuromuscular techniques along with cupping, gua sha, stretching, and Swedish techniques to aid clients in restoring range of motion and reducing pain. Deeper doesn’t have to mean painful, according to Karter. They enjoy working with clients in a manner that appropriately addresses the clients concerns and, at times, fear of firmer pressure.

In their free time, Karter likes to hang out with their family in Wisconsin, hike, read, and snuggle their two kitties.

Deborah

Deborah worked as an EMT before attending Madison College and graduating from their Massage Therapy program in 2003. Deborah saw the power of massage while helping her mother, who suffered from congestive heart failure and arthritis, with pain relief and relaxation using her massage techniques.

Deborah offers relaxation massage incorporating firmer pressure as needed.

In her spare time Deborah enjoys walking, spending time with nature and doing watercolor. She previously sold her artwork to Wild Birds Unlimited.

Maddy

Maddy is a Wisconsinite hailing from a dairy farm in Door County. She completed her undergraduate work at UW Madison where she received a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation psychology. She received her massage training at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College – Sturgeon Bay. Maddy is a bit of a jack of all trades when it comes to massage; from Swedish techniques to deep tissue. Her typical style is “therapeutic” with medium to firm pressure and frequently uses compression, passive stretching, and trigger point therapy. Maddy finds it rewarding to see clients come back with less pain and improved daily function. She has training in cupping, hot stone, myofascial release, table Thai, sport, trigger point, and is looking forward to furthering her education.

In her free time, Maddy likes to spend time with friends and family, be outside (preferably in proximity to animals), as well as cook and bake.

Chehale

Chehale (pronounced: Shuh-hay-la) has been practicing massage therapy since attending the Green Mountain Institute of Integrative Bodywork and Massage in Bennington, VT in 2009. She also attended the Sedona School of Massage in 2013, and has an Integrative Healing Arts certificate with an emphasis in Spiritual Studies and Life Coaching from the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA) in Tempe, AZ.

Her massage style is best described as an integrative and intuitive style in which she is truly present with and for her clients. She does not specialize in (physical) deep tissue, but rather ~ Deep, in an energetic, spiritual sense.

Her favorite outcome is supporting people on their healing journey as they make connections with the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects going on in their lives & thus, their bodies. She feels it is important that each person do their part to take responsibility for their own health and well-being, as we all have the capacity to heal ourselves. She encourages her clients to incorporate self-care techniques into their lives on a daily basis (short times, many times - throughout their day); and to look at massage as part of their wellness plan rather than as a luxury, and make it a regular (ideally - at least, monthly) routine.
